Botanicure Executive Board Director, Academician Andrew H. J. Wang Named a Founding Honorary Member of the FEBS Research Academy

Botanicure extends its warmest congratulations to Academician Andrew H. J. Wang, Executive Board Director, on being named a Founding Honorary Member of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) Research Academy.

Founded in 1964, the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) has supported and advanced research and education in the molecular life sciences for more than six decades. Building on this longstanding legacy, FEBS launched the FEBS Research Academy in 2026 as a new international platform bringing together distinguished scientists from around the world. The Academy aims to advance research excellence, nurture future generations of scientists, and harness scientific expertise to address major societal challenges. Its inaugural cohort comprises 96 Founding Members, including 27 Nobel Prize laureates.

Academician Wang is an internationally renowned structural biologist whose pioneering research has made significant contributions to the structural biology of nucleic acids and proteins. His achievements include determining the structure of Z-DNA and the world’s first structure of an anticancer drug–DNA complex, elucidating molecular mechanisms underlying bacterial pathogenicity and antibiotic resistance, and developing innovative approaches to protein structure determination.

In recent years, Academician Wang has further advanced the translation of structural biology into drug discovery and development, including the improvement of antibody therapeutics and the design of small-molecule drugs targeting key enzymes associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

His appointment as a Founding Honorary Member of the FEBS Research Academy recognizes his outstanding scientific achievements and further highlights Taiwan’s internationally recognized strength in molecular life sciences and biomedical research.
